SmartOperations

WE AIM TO DEVELOP SOLUTIONS TO TRANSFORM DATA IN VALUE

WHO
WE ARE

SmartOperations is a highly innovative start-up firm, spun off from the IBIS Lab research team, which aims to develop solutions for turning data into insights and actions.

We are committed to support our customers in their journey towards innovation, Industry 4.0 and digital transformation.

Using Data Science as a Service (DSaaS), we develop business solutions for operations, service and asset management.

We apply the Data2Action® methodology – developed in collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences of Lucern (Switzerland) – that aims at building high quality dashboards and insightful decision making tools from raw data.

WHAT
WE DO

Using Data Science as a Service (DSaaS), we develop business solutions for operations, service and asset management.

We apply the Data2Action® methodology – developed in collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences of Lucern (Switzerland) – that aims at building high quality dashboards and insightful decision making tools from raw data.

HOW
WE DO IT

The Data2Action framework is based on a many of experiences, yet is was influenced by the experiences:

  • We found that the traditional approaches to innovation for smart services were unsatisfactory.
  • Many Smart Services were based on a manufacturer’s view of the world rather than from the perspective of the asset owner/operator.
  • Smart Services should integrate the equipment, the processes and the people however most digital innovation seamed to focus on simple apps.

So we set out to understand how to better translate data into action in a complex industrial environment.
We combined different approaches (Service Design Thinking, Information Visualization, Business Model design, Wicked Problem theory,…) that we tested in real industrial projects, to ensure the framework wide applicability and simplicity.
We incrementally improved our innovation process and slowly and carefully simplified it defining 4 fundamental steps:
